What happened: San Francisco ruled out six players on Friday for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons: wide receivers Mike Evans (Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring), defensive lineman Nick Bosa (knee/calf), linebackers Garret Wallow (hamstring) and Luke Gifford (groin), and safety Marques Sigle (ankle). Wide receiver Christian Kirk (calf), defensive back Upton Stout (shoulder), and safety Siran Neal (knee) are listed as questionable, though head coach Kyle Shanahan said the club plans to activate Kirk for the game.

Why it matters: After ruling out Bosa while listing Evans as questionable ahead of Monday night's win, the undefeated 49ers must navigate Sunday without their receiving yardage leader, Samuel, and their top edge rusher. Shanahan noted Bosa was overly optimistic when targeting a return two weeks ago, and holding him out against Atlanta gives him additional recovery time through the upcoming Week 8 bye.

By the numbers: Evans leads the 49ers with 420 receiving yards and ranks second on the roster with 27 catches in 2026. San Francisco enters at 6-0 (No. 1 seed) on a six-game winning streak following a 23-17 victory over Washington on Oct. 19, while Atlanta stands at 2-4 (No. 9 seed) on a two-game losing streak after a 31-23 loss to Chicago on Oct. 18.

What to watch: San Francisco must complete the roster move to activate Kirk from injured reserve — where he was placed Oct. 15 — before Sunday's matchup with the Falcons, while Stout and Neal face pregame status checks. The 49ers then head into their Week 8 bye.
