What happened: Al Hilal defeated Al Kholood in the Saudi King's Cup final, with Theo Hernández scoring the winning goal from a Karim Benzema assist. The result delivered Simone Inzaghi his first piece of silverware since taking over as Al Hilal head coach. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the result and goal sequence on Friday.

Why it matters: The cup caps Inzaghi's debut campaign in Saudi Arabia after his move from Inter Milan, validating the club's gamble on a coach with no prior experience outside Italy. It also reinforces Al Hilal's position as the dominant force in Saudi domestic football and gives Benzema and Hernández a tangible trophy return on their high-profile transfers. For the Saudi Pro League's broader project, a marquee final win helps justify the continued investment despite recent PIF funding pullback signals elsewhere in Saudi sport.

What to watch: Attention turns to whether Inzaghi can convert the cup win into a Saudi Pro League title push and how Al Hilal builds around the Benzema-Hernández axis next season. Watch for transfer-window movement as the club leverages cup momentum.
