What happened: Yordan Alvarez and Yandy Diaz were among seven Cuban-born players selected to this year's All-Star Game, the highest total in event history. The milestone pushed Cuban representation to a new high at MLB's midsummer showcase.

Why it matters: For Alvarez, the recognition fits a season that already included his selection as the American League's starting DH. With Diaz alongside him, the record total underscored how heavily Cuban-born talent featured among the sport's top names this summer.

What to watch: Attention now turns to the final weeks of the regular season, where All-Star recognition can sharpen award races and postseason focus. Alvarez and Diaz remain part of that late-year spotlight.
