What happened: Los Angeles plans to hire a general manager for the 2027 MLB season, per MLB Trade Rumors. The front-office move follows the club's decision one day earlier to decline its managerial contract option after one year.

Why it matters: Installing a new baseball operations leader alongside an open dugout job puts both top club roles in play at the start of the offseason. That timing lets the incoming executive help select the coaching staff and direct 40-man roster and arbitration decisions before winter meetings begin.

What to watch: The Angels will conduct candidate interviews for both the general manager and field manager vacancies over the coming weeks.
