What happened: Houston enters a scheduled matchup with Kansas City after Texas pulled even in the AL West and left the Astros holding the tiebreaker. The game has not started, with the score at 0-0 and the series against Kansas City tied 1-1.

Why it matters: That leaves Houston balancing a division race and an immediate series turn with little margin before first pitch. What happens next against Kansas City now lands inside a tighter September standings squeeze.

What to watch: Watch whether Houston can convert the tiebreaker edge into momentum once the game begins. The next turn in the division race starts with this series still level.
