What happened: The Houston Astros are accelerating their search for a new manager and could finalize a hire in the coming days, according to Brian McTaggart on MLB Network. Houston is moving quickly with the goal of having a manager hired before the annual General Managers Meetings begin on Monday.

Why it matters: Installing a manager before the GM Meetings allows Houston's leadership to align on 2027 offseason priorities and roster construction alongside their new field leader. The timing provides organizational clarity heading into early winter trade and free-agency discussions.

What to watch: Watch for Houston to conclude interviews and finalize an agreement ahead of Monday's meetings.
