What happened: The Colorado Avalanche reassigned forward Gavin Brindley to the AHL's Colorado Eagles on Sunday. The transaction returns Brindley to the minor-league affiliate after his recent promotion to the NHL roster.

Why it matters: The move follows a similar path to when Colorado reassigned Taylor Makar to the Colorado Eagles to secure regular playing time. In the AHL, Brindley is positioned for top-six minutes and special-teams deployment rather than limited fourth-line NHL duty.

What to watch: Brindley will rejoin the Eagles' lineup while Colorado evaluates its forward depth for upcoming regular-season action.
