What happened: Carmelo Anthony said he can't wait to support the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden during the NBA Finals, according to a post shared by NBA on NBC. The former Knicks star is throwing his weight behind the franchise as it makes its first trip to the championship round in more than two decades.

Why it matters: Anthony spent his prime carrying the Knicks through their lean iso-era seasons, making his presence at MSG a full-circle moment as the current roster chases a title in its first Finals run since 1999. His public support adds star wattage to a fan base reenergized by the team's return to the biggest stage.

What to watch: Watch for whether Anthony appears courtside once the series tips off at MSG, and how his presence lands with a fan base hungry for the team's first championship in over 50 years.
