What happened: Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs has been the subject of trade talks, per Ian Rapoport. Adam Schefter also reported that the Colts are open to moving the third-year wideout, while defensive tackles DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart were identified on The Pat McAfee Show as additional veterans who could be dealt.

Why it matters: Indianapolis has pivoted into a roster sell-off after firing general manager Chris Ballard and trading six-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle for 2027 third-round and 2028 fifth-round draft picks. Moving Downs would further reshape a passing attack that already saw fellow wide receiver Alec Pierce placed on injured reserve with a heel injury in late September.

By the numbers: The Colts sit 12th in the conference at 2-5 on a three-game losing streak following a 16-10 road loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 25. Drafted 79th overall in the third round out of North Carolina in 2023, Downs recorded 58 receptions for 566 yards and four touchdowns across 16 games in 2025, while Stewart posted 55 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and an interception in 17 games during the 2025 campaign.

What to watch: Rival front offices will monitor whether Indianapolis finalizes deals for Downs, Buckner, or Stewart prior to the NFL trade deadline.
