Court opens individual path for junior hockey hazing claims

What happened: The Section 7 Plan requires eligible players to opt in before pursuing court-managed claims. The Ontario Court of Appeal upheld the refusal to certify Daniel Carcillo’s proposed class action in 2025.

By the numbers: The proposed class encompassed roughly 15,000 players and named 78 defendants; the approved framework can produce up to 60 joinder actions.
