What happened: Cristian Javier draws the opening assignment on the road Wednesday night. First pitch is listed for 8:40 PM CT.

Why it matters: The outing is a reset after he faltered on the second trip through the order last time out. Length from Javier would stabilize September rotation usage down the stretch.

By the numbers: Last cited line: 5.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 5.31 ERA. Threw 85 pitches with 53 strikes; fastball averaged 93.2 mph, touching 94.6 mph.

What to watch: Watch fastball command and second-time-through efficiency. Early innings set the tone for the road series.
