What happened: Fabrizio Romano reports Crystal Palace are advancing in talks to appoint Pierre Sage as their new head coach, with an agreement said to be close. Sage has decided to leave RC Lens, a departure first reported by Fabrice Hawkins. Romano framed the move as effectively settled, signaling the manager's exit from Lens is final.

Why it matters: The appointment would hand Palace a coach with proven Ligue 1 pedigree, as Pierre Sage was named Ligue 1 Coach of the Year at the UNFP Trophées. For Lens, losing their manager so soon after securing a Champions League return creates immediate uncertainty over their bench heading into a demanding European campaign. The timing also reshapes Palace's project ahead of the 2026 season.

What to watch: Watch for an official Crystal Palace announcement confirming Sage's appointment and contract length, along with RC Lens naming an interim or permanent replacement.
