What happened: Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell praised Kerby Joseph as the safety returned to practice on Wednesday, calling him a good teammate whom everybody loves. Campbell stated that Joseph is in a good headspace during his knee rehabilitation while listed on the reserve physically unable to perform list and is expected to play during the 2026 season.

Why it matters: Joseph's progress bolsters a Detroit secondary that lost defensive back Avonte Maddox for the season in September before activating Brian Branch from the PUP list on Oct. 24. Drafted by Detroit in the third round (97th overall) out of Illinois in the 2022 NFL Draft, Joseph recorded 18 tackles and three interceptions across six games with the Lions in 2025, per ESPN.

By the numbers: Detroit holds a 4-2 record and the No. 6 seed in the 2026 standings on a two-game winning streak following a 20-17 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 25.

What to watch: Detroit's upcoming practice reports and roster transactions will indicate when the Lions officially activate Joseph from the reserve PUP list to the 53-man roster.
