What happened: The news came before Los Angeles' scheduled game against the Cincinnati Reds. The game had not started yet, with the Dodgers leading the series 5-0 and the score at 0-0.

Why it matters: It keeps attention on the recent Dodgers lineup juggling around Ohtani and Freeman rather than a fresh setback before first pitch. Better availability from either hitter would change the shape of Los Angeles' offense more than a routine pregame note.

What to watch: Watch whether the positive tone around both hitters carries deeper into the series once play begins. Wednesday's matchup remained at a scheduled 0-0 start.
