What happened: Haas confirmed rookie Rafael Camara will make his Formula 1 debut at the upcoming Sao Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos. The decision moves up Camara's timeline after the team parted ways with Esteban Ocon for the remainder of the 2026 campaign. Camara previously signed a multi-year agreement to join Haas for 2027 and will now contest his home race months ahead of schedule.

Why it matters: The early start allows Haas to evaluate Camara under grand prix conditions before embarking on his full rookie season. Fielding Camara also triggers the FIA four-driver cap for Haas in 2026, ruling out Jack Doohan while leaving reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa as an option for remaining rounds. The seat is currently designated for Camara for Interlagos only.

What to watch: Camara takes the track at Interlagos for opening practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Haas will evaluate its driver lineup for the season's final rounds following the race.
