What happened: Haas announced Tuesday that Esteban Ocon will no longer drive for the team during the 2026 Formula 1 season. Reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa stepped in during the Mexico City Grand Prix, securing a 10th-place finish. Ferrari junior Rafael Camara will take over the seat starting at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

Why it matters: Ocon had already planned to leave Haas at the end of the year, but the early dismissal accelerates the team's planned succession. The move provides Haas an immediate opportunity to integrate Camara under race conditions ahead of his multi-year deal beginning in 2027.

By the numbers: Hirakawa collected one point with his 10th-place finish in Mexico City, while the 21-year-old Camara will become the 34th Brazilian driver to start a Formula 1 Grand Prix.

What to watch: Haas heads to Interlagos for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix with Camara making his official Formula 1 debut.
