What happened: Bryce Harper hit for the cycle for the first time in his career, completing it with a triple in the fifth inning. The feat — a single, double, triple and home run in the same game — marked the ninth cycle in Philadelphia Phillies It was the club's first cycle since Weston Wilson turned the trick in 2024.

Why it matters: The cycle is one of the rarer individual accomplishments in baseball, and Harper had gone his entire career without one until now. Adding the milestone deepens his place in Phillies record books during the heart of the regular season, and a multi-hit, extra-base showcase like this signals he is swinging at a high level as Philadelphia pushes through the summer schedule.

What to watch: Watch whether Harper carries the hot bat into the Phillies' next series and how it factors into their standing in the National League race.
