What happened: Utah completed the two-way deal on Saturday, formalizing the move to fill the franchise's newly opened two-way roster slot. Bufkin became an unrestricted free agent after the Pelicans waived him on Oct. 17 ahead of opening week.

Why it matters: Selected 15th overall by Atlanta in the 2023 NBA Draft, the 23-year-old guard gives Utah a former lottery pick on a developmental deal. Filling the two-way slot allows the club to evaluate him across NBA and G League action during the 2026-27 regular season without using a standard 15-man roster spot.

What to watch: Bufkin is immediately eligible to split time between Utah's active NBA roster and its G League affiliate under standard two-way service limits.
