What happened: Per PFF, Lamar Jackson ranks second in the NFL with 16.7% of his pass attempts traveling at least 20 yards downfield in 2026, followed closely by Jordan Love at 16.2%. Josh Allen (15.2%) and Drake Maye (15.0%) round out the league's top five vertical passers.

Why it matters: Baltimore sits at 4-3 as the AFC's No. 9 seed on a two-game losing streak following a 35-13 loss to Cincinnati on Oct. 25, even with Jackson's established downfield efficiency. Love's high rate of deep shots has been undercut by receiver miscues, as 20 of his passes have been dropped in 2026, per NextGenStats, eight more than any other quarterback.

By the numbers: McCarthy's 20.4% deep-attempt rate outpaces second-place Jackson by 3.7 percentage points and fifth-place Maye by 5.4 percentage points, while numbers two through five are separated by just 1.7 points.

What to watch: Jackson is listed as questionable with an ankle injury for Sunday's matchup against Allen and Buffalo, though he is close to 100 percent and expected to play.
