What happened: Flamengo secured the last Copa Libertadores semifinal place after finishing off Independiente del Valle 3-1 on aggregate. The Libertadores matchups are Fluminense vs. Palmeiras and Estudiantes vs. Flamengo, while the Sudamericana bracket is Boca Juniors vs. Vasco da Gama and Atletico Mineiro vs. Torque City. Torque City reached that round by overturning a 0-2 deficit against Cienciao and winning 3-2 at home.

Why it matters: Both South American competitions are now down to their penultimate ties, with every remaining place in the finals on the board. Flamengo's late finish and Torque City's comeback decided the last unresolved spots and completed the path to each trophy.

What to watch: The next move is the release of semifinal dates, kickoff times and venues. With the field set, attention shifts from quarterfinal escapes to two-leg ties that will decide both finalists.
