What happened: Detroit removed both players from the Game Status Report on Saturday, clearing them for their 2026 season debuts. The roster moves complete the recovery timeline after Campbell planned to play Branch and Mays barring a setback following their return to practice earlier in October. Branch had been sidelined since tearing his Achilles on Dec. 4, while Mays was recovering from a wrist injury.

Why it matters: The reinforcements arrive with the Lions sitting at 3-2 and holding the No. 7 seed after a 45-21 road win over the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 11. Branch restores a Pro Bowl presence to the secondary, and Mays bolsters the interior offensive line as Detroit looks to build on its winning streak.

By the numbers: Per ESPN, Branch, drafted 45th overall by Detroit out of Alabama in 2023, recorded 75 tackles and 2.5 sacks across 12 games in 2025. Mays, selected 199th overall by Carolina out of Tennessee in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, had been on injured reserve since Oct. 7.

What to watch: Snap counts for both returning players will be the primary focus on Sunday against Green Bay after neither logged regular-season action through Detroit's first five games.
