What happened: Luke McCaffrey opened Sunday Night Football with an extended kickoff return to the 50-yard line. The play set up immediate field position at midfield on the opening possession of the game.

Why it matters: Securing midfield field position off the opening kickoff bypasses the standard drive start from inside the 30-yard line. The territory provides an early operational advantage to start the contest.

What to watch: The opening possession gets underway from the 50-yard line.
