What happened: The 24-year-old previously joined Brooklyn in October 2025, then returned on a 10-day deal in February. The agreement allows him to split time between the NBA roster and the G League.

Why it matters: Nelson fills Brooklyn's third and final two-way slot ahead of 2026-27 training camp. The move retains a developmental big without using a standard roster spot.

By the numbers: Nelson averaged 4.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 blocks in 8.8 minutes across four NBA games in 2025-26. He also averaged 11.1 points and 6.0 rebounds across 23 G League games.

What to watch: Training camp will show whether Nelson can turn the two-way spot into regular NBA minutes.
