What happened: Nelson joins Aaron Donald, Tyreek Hill, Joe Thomas and Patrick Peterson as the only NFL players since 2000 to earn eight Pro Bowl selections across their first eight career seasons, per PFF. Drafted sixth overall out of Notre Dame in 2018, the veteran left guard reached the milestone before Indianapolis sent him to the Seahawks for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.

Why it matters: Seattle acquires an established interior anchor on an expiring contract to bolster pass protection and curb quarterback Sam Darnold's turnovers under pressure. Sitting at 2-5 after firing general manager Chris Ballard, Indianapolis shifts into a midseason sell-off while the New York Jets hold the Colts' 2027 first-round selection via the Sauce Gardner trade.

By the numbers: Across 275 pass-blocking snaps in 2026, Nelson has allowed zero sacks with a 2.2% pressure rate, a 94.4% pass-block win rate and an 85.7 PFF grade that ranks second among NFL guards. Among his fellow eight-time Pro Bowl starters since 2000, Donald entered the league 13th overall out of Pittsburgh in the 2014 NFL Draft.

What to watch: Nelson is slated to join Seattle's lineup ahead of Week 8, while Indianapolis prepares for a Week 9 matchup against Dallas amid ongoing trade discussions involving defensive tackle DeForest Buckner.
