What happened: Las Vegas is parting ways with the former Oklahoma defensive tackle two days after holding him out of a 35-21 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Originally selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the interior defender departs despite serving as a regular rotation contributor last year.

Why it matters: Cutting a productive rookie-contract lineman marks an abrupt shift for a 3-4 club currently on a four-game losing streak and sitting 10th in the conference standings. Offseason projections had pegged Laulu's trench development as a key piece of the 2026 defensive front, making his midseason exit a notable depth chart reset.

By the numbers: Laulu compiled 86 tackles across his first two seasons, the highest two-year total ever recorded by a Raiders defensive lineman. In 2025, he posted eight tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, with ESPN crediting him with 51 tackles and four sacks across 17 games for Las Vegas.

What to watch: Laulu heads to the NFL waiver wire, where any claiming club would assume the remainder of his seventh-round rookie contract. If he goes unclaimed, he will become a free agent eligible to sign with any team.
