What happened: Head coach Lindy Ruff confirmed Thursday that defenseman Rasmus Dahlin will remain out of the lineup for tonight's game. The update follows Dahlin missing the Montreal trip opener after exiting against the Panthers on Oct. 12 with an upper-body injury.

Why it matters: Ruff previously labeled the Sabres captain day-to-day following the injury against Florida. Extending his absence forces Buffalo to continue navigating early 2026-27 regular-season action without its top defenseman.

What to watch: Buffalo will evaluate Dahlin on a day-to-day basis ahead of its next scheduled regular-season contest.
