What happened: Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme has publicly named Jürgen Klopp as the primary target for his sporting project. Riquelme announced that if he is successful in Sunday's election, club legend and proposed director Raúl will initiate contact with Klopp on Monday.

Why it matters: The pledge marks a significant escalation in the election race as Riquelme attempts to unseat long-time president Florentino Pérez. By targeting Klopp, Riquelme is offering a direct alternative to Pérez’s plan to reinstall José Mourinho, signaling a shift toward the German's high-intensity tactical style.

What to watch: Real Madrid club members will vote on Sunday, June 7, with the result determining whether the club pursues Klopp or returns to the Mourinho era. If Riquelme wins, all eyes will turn to Klopp's current commitment to his executive role at Red Bull.
