What happened: The one-year agreement with Jeremy Sochan gives the Portland Trail Blazers another option for their second unit. Kris Murray's departure created an opening in the frontcourt rotation.

Why it matters: Sochan has a clearer path to playing time as he enters his fifth NBA season. His arrival also reduces Portland's reliance on Potter at backup power forward.

What to watch: Training camp will clarify how Portland divides reserve power-forward minutes between Sochan and Potter.
