What happened: Taylor Hall captured his first Stanley Cup on Sunday night as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in Game 6. Hall scored the opening goal of the contest, which proved to be the game-winner, to clinch the series 4-2.

Why it matters: The victory marks a career milestone for Hall, who has played 16 NHL seasons without a championship. His veteran presence on a line with Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake proved vital during the Hurricanes' dominant postseason run. The market closed with Carolina as slight favorites prior to the Game 6 clincher.

What to watch: The Hurricanes will celebrate their second franchise title with a victory parade in Raleigh. Hall enters the offseason as a champion for the first time in his professional career.
