What happened: Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Tommy Rees emphasized Thursday that playing effective offense requires leaning on rushing execution to set the unit's foundation.

Why it matters: Establishing a consistent ground threat dictates defensive personnel packages and keeps the offense ahead of the chains on early downs. Committing to run-first sequencing also limits third-and-long exposure for the passing game.

What to watch: Atlanta's early-down play-calling split will test that commitment in the Falcons' next game.
