What happened: The Houston Astros defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-0 on Wednesday, fueled by an RBI double from Yordan Alvarez and a solo home run by Jeremy Peña. Pitcher Peter Lambert anchored the shutout, allowing just one hit over six dominant innings of work.

Why it matters: Alvarez's performance coincides with the latest All-Star voting update, where he currently leads the American League with over 1 million votes. His offensive consistency reinforces the ongoing push to secure him a starting role in the 2026 Midsummer Classic.

By the numbers: Alvarez (1-for-3, RBI) leads the AL in batting average (.326), home runs (24), and RBIs (54). The Astros pitching staff limited Detroit to a single hit while Peter Lambert improved his season record to 6-4.

What to watch: The Astros conclude their series against the Tigers tomorrow before a weekend set. All-Star Phase 1 voting remains open until June 25.
