What happened: Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois stated the franchise has "unequivocally no intention" of trading forward Nikita Kucherov. The declaration comes via an official team statement addressing the star's future with the organization.

Why it matters: The announcement directly counters news that Nikita Kucherov requested a trade from the Lightning after declining to sign an extension. Tampa Bay's front office has chosen to hold firm on its franchise pillar rather than entertain marketplace offers.

What to watch: The Lightning face the Nashville Predators on Saturday, with puck drop scheduled for 2:00 PM ET.
