What happened: The Dodgers celebrated manager Dave Roberts reaching 1,000 career regular-season wins, a mark he hit faster than any manager in Major League history. Los Angeles honored the milestone as Roberts continues to steer one of the sport's most dominant rosters.

Why it matters: The achievement cements Roberts among the winningest managers of his era and underscores the sustained success of a Dodgers club that has stacked victories at a historic clip. It is the latest superlative for a team that has spent the season near the top of the standings, and it arrives as Roberts adds to a résumé already defined by division titles and deep October runs.

What to watch: Watch whether the Dodgers keep pace atop the standings as Roberts pushes his win total higher, with the next game in the series against the Athletics still to be played.
