What happened: New York downgraded Holland from questionable with a concussion and Johnson from doubtful with a neck injury on Saturday, per Mike Garafolo. Neither starter will travel with the team for Sunday's road game in Houston, per Ralph Vacchiano.

Why it matters: The absences strip the fourth-seeded Giants of a defensive playmaker who opened the season with elite defensive production, including a Week 1 interception and a forced fumble against the Rams. New York is looking to rebound from a one-game skid against a Texans squad riding a two-game winning streak and getting wide receiver Tank Dell back for his first game since December 2024.

By the numbers: New York enters Sunday at 3-2-1 (No. 4 seed) following a 34-27 loss to New Orleans on Oct. 18, while Houston stands at 2-4 (No. 13 seed) after a 34-31 road victory at Jacksonville on Oct. 18.

What to watch: The Giants and Texans meet Sunday in Houston, where New York will retool its secondary and tight end rotation without Holland and Johnson.
