What happened: Owners and executives took up the Pro Bowl on the fall meeting agenda Wednesday morning. The format drops the game entirely in favor of a Super Bowl-week celebration in Los Angeles for Pro Bowlers and their families. Special trading cards and broadcast and social tributes are part of the honor plan.

Why it matters: Pro Bowl selection still affects bonuses, resumes and All-Star standing without snaps played. Staging the celebration during Super Bowl week places honorees inside the league's largest media and sponsor window.

What to watch: The league still must set voting dates, roster announcement timing and the Los Angeles event schedule.
