What happened: Pittsburgh is targeting wide receiver and cornerback reinforcements ahead of the NFL trade deadline, while Minnesota is shopping for offensive and defensive line help, per Jordan Schultz. New York is pursuing running back and defensive tackle additions, and Chicago remains active in the market for defensive upgrades. Meanwhile, Los Angeles has been reluctant to deal players away, and multiple AFC clubs including the Steelers have expressed interest in Indianapolis wideout Josh Downs.

Why it matters: Contenders are moving early to patch roster holes before the Nov. 10 deadline, with the unbeaten Vikings and winless Chargers sitting at opposite ends of the NFL standings. Chicago enters the week on a two-game winning streak in the NFC playoff picture, whereas struggling Indianapolis has pivoted toward accumulating future draft capital after dropping three straight games, including a 16-10 loss at Minnesota on Oct. 25.

By the numbers: Chicago Bears: 5-2 record (No. 5 seed, W2 streak). Cleveland Browns: 5-2 record (No. 3 seed, W2 streak). Indianapolis Colts: 2-5 record (No. 12 seed, L3 streak). Josh Downs in 2026: 26 receptions for 307 yards through seven games.

What to watch: Clubs have until the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline to finalize deals. While a trade involving Downs is not considered imminent this week, per Schultz, talks around Indianapolis and other active buyers are expected to accelerate ahead of Week 9.
