What happened: Falcons coach Stefanski said he always thought the world of Jessie Bates as a player and is now blessed to know him as a person. Atlanta is 2-4 and preparing to host San Francisco after two straight losses.

Why it matters: Public backing underscores Bates' standing with the new staff during a losing stretch. Atlanta just activated A.J. Terrell Jr. from injured reserve, leaving the secondary closer to full strength for the 49ers matchup.

What to watch: Watch Bates' practice participation and game deployment against San Francisco. His usage will show how Atlanta aligns its veteran secondary at full strength.
