What happened: Dallas is expected to hold Media Day on Sept. 25. The Mavericks and Houston Rockets can open training camp ahead of the rest of the NBA because of their Macao series.

Why it matters: The early start gives Cooper Flagg additional preparation time before the 2026-27 preseason. Dallas opens its exhibition schedule against Houston in Macao.

By the numbers: Dallas and Houston are scheduled to play preseason games in Macao on Oct. 9 and Oct. 11.

What to watch: Watch for Dallas' Media Day schedule and the opening of training camp later this month.
