What happened: McLaren will bring further performance revisions to its car across the closing rounds of the 2026 Formula 1 season, per Sky Sports F1. Team leadership opted to extend current-year development after recent outings left the constructor unable to challenge the front-runners.

Why it matters: McLaren, which marked its 1,000th Grand Prix earlier this season, had introduced front- and rear-corner modifications at Circuit of the Americas to stabilize its late-season campaign. Committing to additional 2026 parts extends factory production late into the calendar as the squad works to close the gap to the front of the grid.

By the numbers: McLaren entries finished P5 and P7 at the United States Grand Prix after starting from the fourth row, with neither car qualifying inside the top five.

What to watch: The team heads into the Mexican Grand Prix with a revised Velo livery while preparing the next wave of upgrades for the remaining schedule.
