What happened: Mississippi State first-year starting quarterback Kamario Taylor is expected to miss the rest of the 2026 campaign with a lingering toe injury, per Pete Thamel. Taylor aggravated the issue during last week's return against Oklahoma, prompting coach Jeff Lebby to pull him from the game.

Why it matters: The injury ends Taylor's first season as the Bulldogs' full-time starter and forces an immediate change under center for the remaining SEC schedule. When Taylor was previously ruled out against LSU on Oct. 17, Mississippi State turned the offense over to Billy Puckett.

What to watch: Taylor is slated to consult a foot specialist on Tuesday ahead of a potential Oct. 28 procedure, while Mississippi State prepares to visit No. 11 Texas on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
