What happened: Offensive coordinator Travis Switzer addressed Austin Barber's development during Thursday's regular-season availability. Selected 86th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, the rookie lineman transitioned into an interior role at right guard during training camp.

Why it matters: Barber has established himself among the league's top first-year blockers after leading rookie offensive linemen in pass blocking earlier this season. Steady interior protection from a Day 2 draft pick solidifies the offensive line rotation through the middle of the 2026 campaign.

By the numbers: Barber ranks second among all rookie offensive linemen in the 2026 season with a 71.5 PFF offensive grade, trailing only the 75.1 top mark among first-year blockers.

What to watch: Barber continues his debut NFL regular season at right guard as Week 8 action gets underway.
