What happened: Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding confirmed Monday that running back Kewan Lacy will miss Saturday's game against the Auburn Tigers after dislocating his shoulder during a 34-27 loss at Texas. Golding noted the dislocation is separate from an earlier shoulder issue Lacy managed this year and ruled out any possibility of him playing this week. Lacy remains in rehabilitation and is undergoing MRIs, with no timetable set beyond Saturday's matchup.

Why it matters: Lacy's absence removes a primary backfield weapon for Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and the No. 12 Rebels following a 2025 campaign in which Lacy rushed for 1,567 yards and 24 touchdowns. Makhi Frazier is projected to take over lead backfield duties on Saturday, while Shekai Mills-Knight, JT Lindsey, and Josh Dye are also in line for expanded carries in SEC play.

By the numbers: Lacy has recorded 388 rushing yards and five touchdowns alongside 10 receptions for 33 yards in 2026, logging 16 carries for 36 yards and one six-yard catch against Texas before exiting. Frazier has compiled 301 rushing yards on 51 carries across six games this season, while Chambliss has added 134 rushing yards on 41 carries through seven games.

What to watch: No. 12 Ole Miss hosts Auburn on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET while awaiting MRI results to determine Lacy's timeline for the rest of the regular season.
